A recent market analysis indicates that a significant portion of online gambling operators in Finland have modified their bonus terms. The study highlights stricter wagering calculations and game restrictions across the local industry.
The review of 50 platforms shows that 44% of operators calculate wagering requirements based on the combined sum of the deposit and the bonus amount. Another 30% of sites do not provide a clear explanation regarding the base for wagering calculations. For example, a €100 bonus added to a €100 deposit with a 30x wagering requirement demands €3,000 in bets if calculated on the bonus alone, whereas the requirement rises to €6,000 when the deposit is included.
Additional Restrictions and Market Reform
Additional findings show that 58% of the reviewed casinos impose a maximum limit on winnings generated from bonus funds. Furthermore, 74% of operators count bets toward wagering requirements only for specific selected games. Approximately one-third of the platforms do not accept live casino bets for wagering fulfillment at all.
The data was released ahead of the scheduled transformation of the Finnish gambling market. Starting July 1, 2027, the country will transition to a licensing model, which will prohibit welcome bonuses for new players.
