On June 23, 2023, iGEN hosted a sponsorship presentation featuring four local organizations, including the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. The event aimed to secure financial support for charitable initiatives operating within the community.
The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation allocates a monthly budget exceeding €1 million to aid individuals and families. The Medical Assistance Unit provides specialized medicine for chronic illnesses and cancer, alongside accommodation for patients receiving treatment abroad. The organization also supplies food vouchers and household appliances to families in need, while funding specialized therapy and equipment for persons with disabilities.
Funding and Community Support
George Vella, President of the foundation, emphasized that the organization relies entirely on donations rather than government funding. He highlighted the necessity of community support to maintain service quality. To raise necessary funds, the foundation co-organizes Rockestra, a fundraising concert event that brings together volunteers and attendees from various backgrounds.
Financial records indicate a significant rise in medical expenditure, growing from under €1 million in 2015 to €8 million in 2018, and reaching €20 million the previous year. The June session also included presentations from Puttinu Cares, Foodbank Lifeline Foundation, and the newly formed Malta Ranger Unit.
